Jill Flint Previews the Season Three Finale of ‘The Night Shift’

After being preempted the last few weeks because of NBC’s Olympic coverage, The Night Shift returns on Wednesday, Aug. 24 for part one of its season three finale.

In the preview for the episode that airs tonight, viewers see Scott (Scott Wolf) and Jordan (Jill Flint) out in the desert as a fire breaks out. To promote the first part of the finale, Flint sat down with TVLine to talk about what viewers should expect from the finale.

In Wednesday’s episode, Flint says that Jordan and Scott are helping a woman who has a bad leg and they have to work on her in the desert. “We then need to drag this ‘dead weight’ through a forest fire for miles and miles, and every time they turn around they’re being cut off by a fire and trapped….” Flint said in the interview.

She also previews that viewers shouldn’t “make too much of it yet” when it comes to Jordan and Scott’s kiss from the episode that aired before the Olympics, adding that she “feel(s) like she’s (Jordan) seeing Scott for who he is as a man and as a person for the first time — or should I say again, for the first time. They both have a lot of things that they need to figure out. But… there’s a crack in the door. We’ll see what happens, if they actually open it.”

Fans of the show know that Jordan and TC (Eoin Macken) broke up in the events between the second and the third season and Scott is now dating TC’s sister-in-law, Annie, and that Scott and Jordan’s kiss further complicated the already fragile relationship between Scott and Annie.

When asked about her favorite storylines from the season, she said she really liked the scenes with Topher (Ken Leung) and his mother and enjoyed the scenes with Drew (Brendan Fehr) and Brianna (Kyla Kennedy), the young patient brought into the hospital that Rick (Luke MacFarlane) and Drew are trying to adopt.

And when she was asked if fans should be worried about the doctors in the two-part finale, Flint said viewers should be worried for all of the doctors – not just Scott and Jordan.

As for why Flint thinks the show has made it this long? She credits it to the cast being able to interact with the show fans on social media and the great relationship that the cast members have, both on and off screen.

The finale is also going to focus on whether or not Topher is able to save the hospital from being sold to an insurance company and what will happen with Syd (Jennifer Beals) and TC head to the Turkey-Syria border to help with refugees trying to get to freedom.

The Night Shift returns to NBC on Wednesday, Aug. 24 at 10 p.m. for part one of its season finale. The second half airs the following week, on Aug. 31, also at 10 p.m. The show has yet to be renewed for its fourth season, even though it’s the number one scripted show of the summer.
