‘Jeopardy’s’ Power Players Week Adds Anderson Cooper & Louis C.K. To Guestlist

It looks like things are about to heat up on the set of Jeopardy next week.

While the presidential race is forging on, a select number of politically active celebrities will also being competing against each other. Instead of a bid for The White House however these folks are competing for charity.

This upcoming week Jeopardy is broadcasting their annual “Power Players Week”, filmed every four years to coincide with the presidential race. The show was filmed in Washington, D.C. Each episode will feature multiple media personalities battling to win money, not for themselves but for the charity of their choosing.

Each day of challenges enables the contestants to compete for the grand prize of $50,000 and bragging rights. Out of the 3 players for the day, only one contestant can win the big prize. The other two contestants don’t walk away empty handed however, each player will get a $10,000 prize to donate to the charity of their choosing as well.

Variety confirms that among those to compete are CNN’s Anderson Cooper and Kate Bolduan, MSNBC’s Melissa Harris-Perry and Michael Steele, and CBS’s Lara Logan. When asked about the upcoming competition, Cooper had this to say,

“I try to pretend to be laid back, but I’m actually very competitive, so I hope to destroy my opponents.”

Other top names in news, politics and media competing in Jeopardy’s “Power Players Week” are comedian Louis C.K., creator of AMC’s Mad Men Matthew Weiner, Sunny Hostin, Chuck Todd, Jonathan Franzen, S.E. Cupp, Johnathan Capehart, Al Franken and Ana Navarro.

CNN’s At This Hour co-host Kate Bolduan said that she was just honored to be asked to join in on the good-natured fun. Her co-host competed in a previous year and won.

“My co-anchor has played and won jeopardy before so I’m going to see if I can live up to John Berman’s standards at the end of this,” Kate Bolduan.

Jeopardy’s “Power Players Week” kicks off on Monday with Todd, Cupp and Franzen; Tuesday features Cooper against Logan against Steele; on Wednesday Louis C.K. faces Bolduan and Capehart; Thursday’s episode features Franken, Navarro and Hostin; and on Friday the week finished out with Harris-Perry, Gregory and Weiner.
