Jensen Ackles And Laurie Holden Make ‘The Boys’ Debut in Season Three Teaser

Fresh from its Batman-inspired poster campaign, Amazon Prime’s The Boys has unleashed the first look of its third season in new teaser, via Deadline. The minute clip previews just a bit of the chaos our anti-supes vigilantes and Vought heroes will be causing in the series’ third chapter. We also see new cast members Jensen Ackles (Supernatural, Batman: Under the Red Hood) and Laurie Holden (The Walking Dead, Silent Hill) in action for the first time. Watch the teaser below.

While most of the story details are still under wraps, the teaser does hint at some major revelations for some of our main characters. First off, Karl Urban’s (Thor, Dredd) Billy Butcher – the leader of the Boys – appears to have been given a dose of the Vought formula displaying lasers shooting from his eyes. Elsewhere at Vought tower, it appears the hero manufacturer may be trying to clean up its image with a stance against police brutality with Jessie T. Usher’s (Independence Day: Resurgence, Survivor’s Remorse) Atrain at the front of the campaign. We also see glimpses of musical numbers next to the show’s signature affinity for blood and gore.

We also witness Ackles’ Soldier Boy and Holden’s Crimson Countess in action for the first time. The green-suited fighter claims to be one of the first heroes in Vought’s legacy, akin to Marvel’s Captain America. In comparison, the Crimson Countess is described as a lesser Scarlet Witch, with the ability to fly and manipulate heat at will. Ackles and Holden join series regulars Urban, Usher, Antony Starr (Banshee, Without a Paddle), Jack Quaid (Scream, Plus One), Erin Moriarty (Blood Father, Within), Karen Fukuhara (Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts, Stray), Laz Alonso (This Christmas, Deception), Chace Crawford (Gossip Girl, Inheritance), and Tomer Kapon (Taagad, One Week and a Day).

Written and executive produced by Supernatural creator, Erick Kripke (In From the Cold), The Boys is based on the comic series written by Garth Ennis (Preacher, Crossed: Badlands) and Darick Robertson (Happy! Deluxe Edition). Set in modern-day America, superheroes are revered as more than just beacons of hope, but full-fledged celebrities with the insidious underbelly of scandal, arrogance, and corruption to match. When Quaid’s Hughie suffers a major loss at the hands of a superhero, he joins an outfit of misfit mercenaries set to bring Vought to heel.

According to Deadline, the third season will premiere on June 3 exclusively on Amazon Prime. Airing weekly, the eight-episode season will conclude on Friday, July 8.
