Jennifer Beals Joins Amazon’s Drama ‘The Last Tycoon’

Jennifer Beals has just landed a role in Amazon’s upcoming drama The Last Tycoon, as depicted online from many news sources. The cast has already included Matt Bomer, Kelsey Grammer, Lily Collins and Rosemarie DeWitt. According to Variety, the series is based on F. Scott Fitzgerald’s final unfinished novel (published posthumously in 1941), and is inspired by the life of film mogul Irving Thalberg.

The Last Tycoon follows a Hollywood star through his battles and his subsequent fame. The main character is Monroe Stahr (Bomer), who battles father figure and boss, Pat Brady (Grammer) for the soul of their studio. Beals eventually plays a recurring role as Margo Taft, a Hollywood star who came from bad times and has her way of appearing in various pictures, while playing games and claws her supremacy on the set.

It’s not known if she will be a permanent fixture, but her role seems to be an important one. Written and directed by Billy Ray based on F. Scott Fitzgerald’s final unfinished novel, The Last Tycoon, from Sony TV’s TriStar Television, seems to be an adventurous one.

As it has mentor against student, Bomer’s role seems to be like Beals, as they both climb to the height of power by using charm and vanity. Exposing the truth and ignoring the fact that they may be hurting others along the way. They both try to be the fixtures in a world of cinema and fast fame.

What’s next for Beals after her run on The Last Tycoon? Beals will next be seen starring in NBC’s Taken prequel series, which will debut in February. She is also teaming up with Kenny Ortega and James Larosa to executive produce the upcoming Fox dance drama, The Edge, returning to her roots as a dance major.

The Last Tycoon airs on Amazon.
