According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jenna Ortega (Scream, Miller’s Girl) announces that she does not plan to return to another TV series after Netflix’s Wednesday concludes. She states that when the series ends, she would like to take a break from television for a while.
As per The Hollywood Reporter, she stated this during a Happy Sad Confused interview when she was asked about whether she would commit to another franchise.
“I actually haven’t had a lot of franchise conversations,” she said via The Hollywood Reporter. “What I’m meant to do will come and find me. I think after Wednesday, I’ll probably be off the TV for a while. You know I had many years doing TV. I was bouncing from show to show as a kid and I want to leave time for new things.”
According to The Hollywood Reporter, there has been no statement that the Wednesday series is ending with its upcoming third installment or that Ortega is exiting the franchise. Ortega raised eyebrows by telling Esquire in August, “It’s only been in the last year or so — especially with the show coming to a head and getting ready to enter this next chapter in my life and career — that I’ve really honed in.”
And back in 2023, Ortega told The Sunday Times via The Hollywood Reporter, “I had done so much TV in my life, all I’ve ever wanted to do is film.”
As per The Hollywood Reporter, Wednesday is a supernatural comedy-horror television series on Netflix created by Alfred Gough (I AM Number Four, Into the Badlands) and Miles Millar (Into the Badlands, The Shannara Chronicles), with Tim Burton (Alice in Wonderland, Edward Scissorhands) serving as director and executive producer.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the filming of the third season of the series recently wrapped but no release date has been announced yet. The series is expected to return sometime in mid to late 2027.
