Jenna Ortega (You, Scream) has a long career as a child actress. But, according to an interview Ortega had with the Happy Sad Confused podcast on YouTube, the actress is looking to make a major change: she’s taking a break from television once Wednesday is over.
When asked whether she would take more franchises moving forward, Ortega responded candidly. “I actually haven’t had a lot of franchise conversations,” Ortega said. “What I’m meant to do will come and find me. I think after Wednesday, I’ll probably be off the TV for a while. You know I had many years doing [TV]. I was bouncing from show to show as a kid, and I want to leave time for new things.”
For fans concerned Ortega will be leaving their television set behind in the near future, there is no indication that Wednesday will be ending any time soon. Production on the third season recently wrapped, but the third season has not been announced to be the final season. Back in August, Ortega teased a difficult time ahead for the Addams family. Season three is set during Wednesday’s senior year at Nevermore Academy, and she’s set to take on an international journey to rescue her roommate, Enid, played by Emma Myers (Family Switch, A Minecraft Movie), a search that will take her all the way to Paris, France.
Ortega has a varied career stretching back decades. Her first film role was a brief appearance in Iron Man 3, and she’s starred in the Scream franchise’s fifth and sixth installments. She’s also starred in Netflix’s You series, and recently starred alongside Winona Ryder (Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands) in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. Her next role will be in Klara and the Sun, which is set to premiere on October 23. Ortega probably has a long career ahead of her, even if her TV career will be on pause for a while.
