Netflix’s The Watcher has added four new stars to its upcoming season two cast. According to Deadline, Madelaine Petschn (The Strangers: Chapter 1, Riverdale), Evan Adams (The Wrong Valentine, Go Getters), Owen Painter (Tiny Beautiful Things, The Shards) and Quintessa Swindell (Master Gardener, Prime Target) have joined for the second season of the series.
The first season of The Watcher is centered on the Brannock family, whose move into their supposed dream home quickly turned into a nightmare. After receiving ominous letters from someone identifying themselves as ‘The Watcher,’ the family began uncovering disturbing secrets hidden in their neighborhood. The series is inspired by Reeves Wiedeman’s New York Magazine article, “The Haunting of a Dream House.”
Season one of The Watcher premiered in the fall of 2022. However, the show has been at a standstill since. With production for the second season starting this fall in New York, the undisclosed premiere date of season two would mark a more than four-year hiatus for the Murphy and Brennan show. This differs from their other Netflix show, Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, which premiered in the fall of 2022 and went on to have three additional installments.
The four new members will join the series as regulars, alongside returning cast members Naomi Watts (Mulholland Drive, King Kong) and Bobby Cannavale (The Station Agent, Man on Fire). Additionally, The Watcher main cast includes Margo Martindale (August: Osage County, Sneaky Pete) and Isabel Gravitt (Dead Sea, Your Friends & Neighbors).
The Watcher is a Murphy and Brennan series, halting from Murphy’s five-year overall deal with 20th TV. Brennan will continue his role as showrunner for season two of the series. Crystle Roberson Dorsey (First Christmas, The End Again) directs the series. Murphy will serve as executive producer alongside Murphy, Brennan, Dorsey, Nissa Diederich (Love Story, American Horror Story), Karl Frankenfield (Love Story, Goosebumps), Scott Robertson (Love Story, The Andy Warhol Diaries), Todd Kubrak (Monster, The Four-Faced Liar), Tanase Popa (American Horror Story, The Shards), Watts, Henry Joost (Nerve, Catfish) & Ariel Schulman (Nerve, Catfish), Eric Newman (Zero Day, True Story) and Bryan Unkeless (First Match, Bright).
