For fans of The Good Wife, the series finale of the show left more questions than answers in their minds and many weren’t happy with the way the show ended in May. For Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who played Jason Crouse in the seventh season, he understands how the fans feel, telling Entertainment Weekly that he hated the ending of the show.
“I didn’t like it,” Morgan said to the magazine. “My feeling was we raised so many questions about Jason and this relationship that he had with Alicia that I felt like nothing was ever answered, you know? So I walked away frustrated for my character and Alicia’s character in not having any kind of closure with that.”
Morgan also revealed that two weeks after the show had wrapped production, he got a call saying that he was needed for reshoots of the finale but he wasn’t able to make it because he was in Atlanta to start filming something else.
Morgan also admitted that he has yet to watch the final episode and said he did like that the slap between Diane (Christine Baranski) and Alicia (Juliana Margulies), saying it was nice to see that aspect of the show come full circle.
As for what Morgan thinks happened with his character? He said “We don’t know. We think maybe he took off and she’s looking for him at the end. I don’t know. I was so big on that story that got introduced so early on about who this guy was, and did he really beat up a judge? And what about this temper that they built up so much? And then nothing. It was just sort of walked away. … But all my stuff is all selfish. I wasn’t happy with the ending because I wasn’t happy with Jason.”
Morgan went on to say that he thinks Jason would have come back for Alicia and the two of them would have gotten a happy ending.
And just because The Good Wife finished its run doesn’t mean Morgan is out of work. It was recently confirmed that he will be series regular for the seventh season of The Walking Dead along with four other actors, where he’ll reprise his role as Negan when the show comes back.
Morgan is also known for his role of Denny Duquette on Grey’s Anatomy, the heart patient that Izzie fell in love with and cut his LVAD wire so he could get a heart that was supposed to be for someone else. He ended up getting the heart, but died in the second season finale of a stroke.
