Jared Padalecki finally breaks his silence after being arrested in late October. Tweeting, “I want to sincerely thank my family and friends for all of your love and support. So sad to miss the #SPNFamily at #dccon but I hope to see y’all soon.”
On Oct. 27th, the Supernatural star was arrested in Austin, Texas. He was taken into custody early in the morning after allegedly hitting two employees of a club. An arrest affidavit from Travis County Sheriff’s Office states that Padalecki was arrested and charged with two counts of assault causing bodily injury and public intoxication.
The Travis County Clerk’s office confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that Padalecki was charged $5,000 for each assault. He was released under public recognizance bond the same day as his arrest. A public recognizance is, “…the pretrial release of a defendant from jail or arrest by a judicial officer without bail. The defendant is released on the basis of a promise made by him/her to return to court.” Padalecki’s court date is Nov. 18th.
Since the arrest, the star has gone back to work on Supernatural. Unfortunately, Padalecki missed the official Supernatural convention in D.C. this weekend. Jensen Ackles, Padalecki’s co-star, made a brief comment on his friend’s situation, “We all miss my big, dumb friend. I’ll just say it now, he had a bad weekend last weekend. He’s dealing with what he’s gotta deal with so just send him support and some love and have a good weekend this weekend.”
After fifteen years, Supernatural is ending this year. Confirmation came in early October that Padalecki signed on for the new Walker, Texas Ranger reboot in development by CBS. The network describes the reboot titled Walker as “a man finding his way back to his family while investigating crime in the state’s most elite unit. Our broken widower and father of two returns home to Austin after being undercover for two years for a high profile case – only to discover that there’s even more work to be done at home. In a nod to the original series, Walker and his new partner — one of the only women in Texas Rangers’ history — are the modern day heroes our world needs, following their own moral code to fight for what’s right, regardless of the rules.”
