‘Jane The Virgin’ Casts Ricardo Chavira as Xo’s Love Interest

For a mock telenovela, it makes sense to ramp up the drama as much as necessary (if not more). But this new casting decision just moved a love triangle to a love . . . square?

Season two of Jane the Virgin left the audience in intense and emotional pain. With Jane’s dream wedding turning into a literal nightmare, we can only look to the news of our other lead’s romantic life to ease the tension off our shoulders–but this is Jane the Virgin, so there is no such thing as a stress-free storyline.

Last season Xo was left shaken in the wake of her discovery that she was pregnant. The question of who the father is (her longtime love Rogelio? Or that Rogelio wannabe Esteban?) will doubtlessly fuel episodes to come, but Deadline announced that there is going to be a new man to consider.

Ricardo Chavira has been cast for the show’s thrilling third season, popping up as yet another ex-boyfriend from Xo’s past. Rumor has it that Chavira’s character and Xo dated while he was seeing someone else . . . namely, his wife. With that juicy gossip in mind, we are excited to see what this new reunion will bring to the show.

Chavira will be familiar to audiences as he previously starred in the long-running ABC series Desperate Housewives. He played the role of Carlos Solis, married to Eva Longoria’s character, and is no stranger to the ups and downs of tearjerking television. He’s also been known to stretch his comedic muscles, as he’s set to play opposite Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant in Santa Clarita Diet on Netflix. Chavira is represented by Innovative Artists and Gilbertson Entertainment.

Prep those hankies, because Jane the Virgin is coming back to television on October 17 on the CW. Who  will Xo choose?
