According to Comicbook, James Gunn (Peacemaker) has recently revealed the episode count for Max’s new series Creature Commandos. The series which is exclusively streaming on Max will be part of Gunn’s and Peter Safran’s (Aquaman) new DC Universe that is being built.
According to Comicbook, Gunn responded to a fan who on social media asked, “Will all DCU series have eight episodes per season or is this not a rule and the script is what will dictate the number of episodes?”
Gunn responded to the question saying, “ The story dictates the amount of episodes. Creature Commandos is seven,”
Creature Commandos will follow a group of military superhumans who look like monsters and are led by a human. The team consists of a werewolf, a vampire, Frankenstein’s monster, a gorgon, and many others.
The cast for the series will include Russ Bain (Lift) as Craic Brothers, Viola Davis (Suicide Squad) as Amanda Waller, Sean Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy) as G.I Robot, Indira Varma (Rome) as Bride of Frankenstein, Alan Tudyk (Harley Quinn) as Phosphorus, David Harbour (Stranger Things) as Eric Frankenstein, Frank Gillo (What If…?) as Rick Flag Sr, and many others.
According to Comicbook, Gunn explained what the series is and his plans for the DCU in an event by saying, “Creature Commandos is based on the great team from DC. What we’re doing with the DCU is, we are having animation tied directly into live action. Television, movies, and games all intertwine within the same universe. We’re going to cast actors that are going to be able to play the characters in this as well as in other things, some of which we’ve already cast. I’ve written all seven episodes of the show, and it’s in production. So that’s the first thing, and I love it.”
Creature Commandos is scheduled to premiere on Max in late 2024.
