Jacob Elordi is Taking a Leap of Faith Into His ‘SNL’ Debut in a New Promo Video

Saturday Night Live is about to get a newbie as host, and despite his six foot plus height, baby steps are propelling him towards the debut on the SNL stage. Euphoria star Jacob Elordi (Saltburn) recently starred in the newest promotional video for his SNL hosting debut episode. Posted on the sketch show’s social media and various platforms, the Saltburn actor is gearing up but is a little bit nervous about his big entrance onto the stage.

In the promo, Elordi is hanging out on the stage in studio 8H. While he wanders around, he starts to make his way to the top of the staircase that the host for the episode effortlessly strides down when they enter the studio for their opening monologue. It’s a big moment for people, so it’s understandable that Elordi met it with a, one might say, sheepish attitude. Cast members Marcello Hernandez (The Improvisor) and Punkie Johnson (Bottoms) walk into the studio and notice that Elordi just can’t seem to muster up the courage to take those steps to the center of the stage. As he stands up there, he thinks back to previous hosts and how they made their iconic entrances. “They all make it look so easy,” he said to himself.

Ultimately, Elordi takes the leap of faith down the steps, right after proclaiming to himself “I’m Jacob, and I’m gonna go down these steps.” Hernandez and Johnson watch as he prevails, but maybe not in the best way he could have.

Elordi is hosting SNL for the first time. Having recently starred in the films Saltburn and Pricilla, he is out and about promoting the works he is in. Not only that, Elordi also previously starred in the HBO series Euphoria

Elordi is accompanied by Reneé Rapp (Mean Girls, Sex Lives of College Girls) as musical guest. She is also making her SNL debut as a singer, but she has also been in plenty of television, theatre, and film. Most recently, she led the pack of “plastics” in the movie adaptation of the hit Broadway musical Mean Girls as the character Regina George.

Saturday Night Live will air on January 20th at 11:30 pm EST on NBC with Jacob Elordi as host and Reneé Rapp as musical guest. Watch the new promo for the episode below!
