J.J. Abrams Making a Return to TV with New Sci-Fi Series

Filmmaker J.J. Abrams is looking to work his way back into television. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Abrams is currently shopping around a brand-new sci-fi series in the hopes that a network will soon pick it up. This project will be the first television series he wrote and created since the 2008 series Fringe.

His new sci-fi series centers on a family that suffers a tragedy after a violent car crash. After her mother winds up in a coma following the crash, the daughter in the family conducts experiments to help her family and is flung into a series of fantastical events when she finds herself transported to another land.

Abrams is best known for directing films such as Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Super 8, and the recent Star Trek remakes. His work in television includes writing, directing, and producing for shows like Lost, Alias, and Westworld. He was recently named as the next director in the final installment of the latest Star Wars trilogy, replacing the initial choice of Colin Trevorrow.

The filmmaker excels with sci-fi, and after years of taking a break from work on the small screen, it will be exciting to see how Abrams works with the genre in his new original series.
