Hulu Teams With James Franco and Seth Rogen For New Drama

A new Hulu teen drama series set in the 1990s is coming soon according to Variety. From the mind of author and script writer Kelly Oxford (All the Way) comes a series that plans to continue the streaming service’s recent run of standout original series. To assist in that regard comes a due who knows a little bit about making a popular teenage show – Hollywood’s extraordinary duo of Seth Rogen and James Franco.

If you’ve seen any advertisements for buddy comedies in the past five to ten years, chances are you’re familiar with their resume. Though recently the two have become better known for projects such as The Interview and Pineapple Express, they got their start together on Judd Apatow’s short-lived cult masterpiece Freaks and Geeks in the 90s. That means an angsty period piece is nothing new to two of the program’s biggest breakout stars.

Joining Oxford, Rogen, and Franco will be longtime partners of the two comedians Vince Jolivette (Spring Breakers with Franco) and Evan Goldberg (Sausage Party, Neighbors, The Interview). The series is expected to be made up of hourlong blocks but is as of yet untitled.

The new project is only Franco’s most recent with Hulu. Last year he starred in J.J. Abrams and Stephen King mini-series 11.22.63 which was based on King’s novel of the same name. Rogen’s most recent television project has been serving as co-creator of AMC’s Preacher with Goldberg.

As for Oxford, she has already landed scripts at CBS and NBC and is just about to release her second novel When You Find Out the World Is Against You. Should her hot streak continue, fans can expect plenty more out of the versatile artist.

No further information is available about the upcoming series, but the attachment of such big names is sure to keep news coming. Stay tuned with mxdwn Television for more information regarding Oxford, Franco, and Rogen’s new unnamed series from Hulu.
