‘How I Met Your Mother’: Josh Radnor Finally Meets His TV Son David Henrie

How I Met Your Mother’s Ted Mosby and son met for the first time almost a decade later! In the midst of this momentous occasion on Friday, Josh Radnor (Not Another Teen Movie, Liberal Arts) and TV son, David Henrie (Wizards of Waverly Place, Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2), ran into each other and wanted to take a quick photo to commemorate the moment, according to TV LineThe two never acted together on the show.

“Found my father,” read the captioned photo by Henrie. He then added, “Finally.” Radnor also posted the same picture captioned with a poem.

How I Met Your Mother follows the hopeless romantic Ted Mosby on the desperate quest to find “the one” alongside his four friends: Barney, Robin, Marshall, and Lily.

Although he has some help from the eligible bachelor, Barney Stinson, played by Neil Patrick Harris (A Series of Unfortunate Events, Gone Girl), he has difficulty getting past the embarrassment. Primarily set in an Irish pub, the rom-com involves Ted and his friends getting together, mingling with girls, drinking, and going through everyday life. To his two children, he narrates the entire story, which takes nine years and ends with him meeting their mother.

The show also starred Cobie Smulders (The Avengers, Stumptown) portraying Robin, Jason Segel (Forgetting Sarah Marshall, The Muppets) portraying Marshall, and Alyson Hannigan (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, American Pie) portraying Lily.

Henrie is also known for playing Justin Russo on Disney Channel’s Wizards of Waverly Place. He appeared on How I Met Your Mother with his TV sister, Penny, played by Lyndsy Fonseca (The Escort, Kick-Ass.)

In 2021, the series co-creator Carter Bays (Late Show with David Letterman, Oliver Beene) and the executive producer on the short-lived spinoff How I Met Your Father opened up about some creative elements he regretted on HIMYM.

“I won’t go into specifics,” said Bays via TV Line, “but I’ll just say I would love to go into an edit room and go George Lucas on this thing, and remove certain stuff I really wish wasn’t in there and I bet nobody would miss.”
