According to Variety, the animated series Batman: Caped Crusader has unveiled the new voice actor for the Joker. Matthew Needham (House of the Dragon, The Ritual) will be joining the cast of the series as the voice of the Joker for the second season. This comes after the iconic villain was teased at the end of the first installment.
As per Variety, the casting for the series was revealed during San Diego Comic-Con, where he joined cast members Hamish Linklater (Fantastic Four, The Big Short), who plays Batman and Jamie Chung (Grown Ups, Big Hero 6), who plays Harley Quinn, as well as executive producers James Tucker (Batman Beyond, Batman: The Killing Joke) and Geoffrey Thorne (In the Heat of the Night, City of Angels) on a panel.
Variety reports that Needlam will be joining the cast that incudes Eric Morgan Stuart (Reality Bites, Southside with You), Michelle C. Bonilla (I Just Wish You Told Me, Slip Away), Krystal Joy Brown (Heaven Down Here, One Royal Holiday), Jason Watkins (The Game, The Catch), Gary Anthony Williams (The Boondocks, Undercover Brother), Ronan Raftery (Death of a Superhero, Mortal Engines), Wunmi Mosaku (Sinners, Lovecraft Country), Laraine Newman (Coneheads, Problem Child 2), Grey DeLisle (The Fairly OddParents, Danny Phantom) and John DiMaggio (Adventure Time, Kim Possible).
Additional cast members include Zach Hoffman (Bury Him, The Bigfoot Trap), William Salyers (Regular Show, Moral Orel), Josh Brener (The Internship, Silicon Valley), Bumper Robinson (A Different World, Living Single), Cedric Yarbrough (Paradise PD, Reno 911!), Tom Kenny (SpongeBob SquarePants), Roger Craig Smith (Sonic Boom, Clarence), Blythe Melin (Brawl Stars, Genshin Impact), Fryda Wolff (The Owl House, Apex Legends), Kevin Michael Richardson (The Cleveland Show, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie), Juliet Donenfeld (The Big Show Show, Interrupting Chicken) and Robin Atkin Downes (Meet the Medic,Constantine: The House of Mystery).
According to Variety, Batman: Caped Crusader follows Batman’s early years as he wages a one-man war on crime in Gotham City. Set in a gritty, 1940s-inspired Gotham, he fights rampant mob corruption, extreme supervillains, and a crooked police force.
The 10-episode second season of Batman: Caped Crusader will air on Prime Video on July 31.
