‘House of Lies’ Renewed for Fifth Season

On Tuesday Showtime announced that House of Lies will return for a fifth season in 2016. The comedy starring Don Cheadle and Kristen Bell will run 10 half-hour episodes in the next season down from its standard 12 episodes.

House of Lies fourth season ended on Sunday and averaged 583,000 total viewers. Though the numbers are off season to season, Cheadle has had an excellent performance this awards season, earning three Emmy and Golden Globe nominations. House of Lies also offsets its less than stellar same-day viewership with a respectable DVR showing.

Showtime executive vp of original programming Gary Levine said of the series, “When you have a gifted acting ensemble led by Don Cheadle and smart, acerbic writing led by showrunner Matthew Carnahan, you expect something special, and House of Lies delivers for us each season,” according to The Hollywood Reporter

House of Lies joins Shameless in the group of renewals in Showtime’s lineup, alongside the upcoming debut of  Happyish, starringSteve Coogan and the newly ordered Andrew Dice Clay half-hour Dice, with the latter due in 2016. Nurse Jackie will sign off after its upcoming seventh and final season.
