Carrie Mathison is coming back in January.
Showtime has just released a new trailer for season six of Homeland, its Emmy and Golden Globe-winning series starring Claire Danes and Mandy Patinkin. The new season is scheduled to premiere on Sunday, January 15th at 9 pm.
This new season of Homeland will pick up months after season five’s Berlin terrorist plot. The series is known for being topical and this season will be no different, focusing on the aftermath of a U.S presidential election that sees Elizabeth Marvel (True Grit, House of Cards) as the president-elect. The entirety of season six will take place between election day and inauguration as Mathison, now working in Brooklyn to provide aid to Muslims living in the U.S., undoubtedly ends up involved.
Homeland is based on Israeli series Prisoners of War and was developed for American television by Alex Gansa and Howard Gordon. Along with Danes and Patinkin the series stars Rupert Friend, F. Murray Abraham, Hill Harper, Robert Knepper, Patrick Sabongui, Jake Weber and Dominic Fumusa. Gansa, Danes and Gordon executive produce the series with Chip Johannessen, Lesli Linka Glatter, Michael Klick, Patrick Harbinson, Gideon Raff, Avi Nir and Ran Telem. Homeland is produced by Fox 21 Television Studios.
