History Channel Renews ‘Vikings’ for a Third Season

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the History Channel is renewing its first scripted series, Vikings for a third season.

Currently halfway through its second season, Vikings is averaging 3.4 million viewers per episode. Almost half of these viewers are in the heavily ad-targeted demographic of 18-49 year old adults.

Season 3 of Vikings is set to premiere in 2015, after being shot this summer. History Channel general manager Dirk Hoogstra had this to say about the renewal, “With its large, passionate and loyal fan base, Vikings has cemented History firmly in the scripted series genre, just as we are the leaders in reality television.”
