HBO’s ‘Task’ Sets All-Women Directing Team For Season Two

HBO has assembled an all-women directing team for the second season of its crime drama Task. According to Deadline, Georgi Banks-Davies (The Night Manager, Paper Girls, Kaos), Clare Kilner (House of the Dragon, The Alienist, The Mosquito Coast), and Kitty Green (The Royal Hotel, The Assistant, Casting JonBenet) will join returning director and executive producer Salli Richardson-Whitfield (Eureka, I Am Legend, Stitchers) for the upcoming season.

Banks-Davies is set to direct the first block of episodes for season two, which is currently in pre-production. Richardson-Whitfield will return as both a director and executive producer after directing episodes during the first season.

Created by Brad Ingelsby (Mare of Easttown, Run All Night, The Way Back), Task follows law enforcement officers investigating a series of violent crimes. The first season centered on FBI agent Tom Brandis, played by Mark Ruffalo (The Avengers, Spotlight, Now You See Me), and a task force attempting to track down a group of masked robbers operating throughout the Philadelphia area.

Season two will also star Mahershala Ali (Moonlight, Green Book, Jurassic World: Rebirth). Additional returning cast members include Edgar Ramírez (Gold, Point Break, Borderlands), Harry Melling (Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, The Old Guard, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1), Adam Nagaitis (The Terror, The Man with the Iron Heart, The Commuter), and Aminah Nieves (1923, A House of Dynamite, Dogwood).

According to the official description, Brandis will lead a new task force in season two. However, as the investigation deepens, it becomes increasingly difficult to determine who the real target is.

Ingelsby serves as creator, writer, showrunner, and executive producer. Additional executive producers include Paul Lee (Mare of Easttown, Dickinson, Bodkin), Mark Roybal (Mare of Easttown, No Country for Old Men, Like Crazy), Jeremiah Zagar (We the Animals, Hustle, In a Dream), Richardson-Whitfield, Ruffalo, and Ron Schmidt (Mare of Easttown, House of the Dragon, Watchmen).

Task season two is currently in pre-production. A premiere date has not yet been announced.
