HBO has set the cast for the new comedy series, The Franchise, which follows the story of a hopeful crew trapped inside the dysfunctional franchise of superhero moviemaking, according to Deadline.
The cast includes Billy Magnussen (Into the Woods, Game Night) who plays Adam, Jessica Hynes (Shaun of the Dead, Spaced) who plays Steph, Darren Goldstein (The Affair, Ozark) who plays Pat, Lolly Adefope (Ghosts, Shrill) who plays Dag and Isaac Powell (Dear Evan Hansen, American Horror Story) who plays Peter as series regulars, via Deadline. In recurring roles, Daniel Brühl (Rush, Inglourious Basterds) will play Eric and Richard E. Grant (Gosford Park, Can You Ever Forgive Me?) will play Peter as recurring guest stars, according to Deadline.
The series was created by Sam Mendes (1917, Skyfall) and Armando Iannucci (Veep, The Death of Stalin), with Jon Brown (Succession, Veep) set as the showrunner and Mendes set to direct, according to Deadline. The Franchise will be executive produced by Mendes via his production company Neal Street productions, and Iannucci via his production company Dundee Productions, via Deadline.
There is no current release date for The Franchise.
