HBO has released the second trailer for its upcoming Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone series, offering closer look at Harry Potter’s first year at Hogwarts and the show’s ensemble cast. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the trailer features several recognizable moments from J.K. Rowling’s (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, C.B. Strike) first Harry Potter novel.
The new footage gives both the younger and adult cast members speaking lines while providing a more detailed look at Hogwarts. The trailer includes Harry sitting beneath the Sorting Hat, scenes on the Quidditch pitch and an interaction between Harry and Professor Severus Snape.
The series follows Harry Potter, who grows up believing there is nothing unusual about him until he receives a mysterious letter inviting him to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Harry soon enters a hidden magical world filled with new friendships and adventures while discovering that dark secrets lie within Hogwarts.
Dominic McLaughlin (Grow, Gifted) stars as Harry Potter alongside Arabella Stanton (Harry Potter) as Hermione Granger and Alastair Stout (Harry Potter) as Ron Weasley. John Lithgow (Terms of Endearment, The World According to Garp, Daddy’s Home) portrays Albus Dumbledore, while Janet McTeer (Me Before You, The Artist, The Menu) stars as Minerva McGonagall and Paapa Essiedu (I May Destroy You, The Outrun, Black Mirror) plays Severus Snape.
Nick Frost (The World’s End, Paul, Attack the Block) portrays Rubeus Hagrid, while Rory Wilmot (The Runner, Unchosen) plays Neville Longbottom and Lox Pratt (Lord of the Flies) stars as Draco Malfoy. The student cast also includes Leo Earley (Newtown Boys) as Seamus Finnigan, Elijah Oshin (Route Cause) as Dean Thomas, Tristan Harland (The Last Kingdom) as Fred Weasley, Gabriel Harland (The Last Kingdom, Unprecedented: Real Time Theatre from a State of Isolation) as George Weasley and Ruari Spooner (Harry Potter) as Percy Weasley.
Additional cast members include Alessia Leoni (Harry Potter) as Parvati Patil, Sienna Moosah (Harry Potter) as Lavender Brown, Finn Stephens (Harry Potter) as Vincent Crabbe and William Nash (Harry Potter) as Gregory Goyle. Warwick Davis (Willow, Leprechaun, Ray) portrays Filius Flitwick, while Sirine Saba (Doctor Who, Cleaning Up, Holby City) stars as Pomona Sprout.
The series is based on Rowling’s Harry Potter novels and is written and executive produced by Francesca Gardiner (Succession, Killing Eve, His Dark Materials). Mark Mylod (Succession, Shameless, The Menu) will executive produce and direct multiple episodes.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone will premiere December 25 on HBO.
