HBO Releases First Look At Season Two Of ‘The Leftovers’

HBO has released the first teaser for the second season of The Leftovers.

The Leftovers is based on Tom Perrotta’s novel of the same name. Created by Perrotta and Damon Lindelof, the series takes place three years after the sudden and unexplained disappearance of 2% of the global population.

The Leftovers stars Justin Theroux, Amy Brenneman, Chris Zylka, Margaret Qualley, Christopher Eccleston, Liv Tyler, and Carrie Coon who are all returning for season two. Not returning to the show is many of the first season’s supporting cast members who were cut back in December. Though some may return as guest stars, including Michael Gaston, Annie Q., Max and Charlie Carver, Amanda Warren and Emily Meade, according to Deadline

Joining season two are several new additions to the cast. Kevin Carroll (Law & Order: SVU) and Jovan Adepo will be season two regulars. Darius McCrary (Family Matters) will have a guest role as a palm reader, according to TVLine

Season one was based in New York, but as the teaser reveals the show is changing locations to Texas for season two. In addition to the location shakeup, the series has mostly used all of the source material from Perrotta’s novel meaning fans can expect the show to take its own, new direction for season two.

The teaser, which can be seen below, shows cars lined up on a road before revealing a sign that indicates the Texas town they are traveling to had no departures, meaning no one from the town disappeared in the rapture-like event.

Season two of The Leftovers is coming to HBO in the fall.
