HBO Max’s ‘Search Party’ Casts Jeff Goldblum for Fifth Season

Actor Jeff Goldblum (Jurassic Park, Thor: Ragnarok) has been announced to join the HBO Max original comedy series, Search Party, for its fifth season, according to Deadline. Created by the trio of Michael Showalter (The State, The Big Sick), Sarah-Violet Bliss (Fort Tilden), and Charles Rogers (Fort Tilden), the dark comedy series first premiered on TBS for its first two seasons before transitioning to the Warnermedia streaming service for its third, fourth, and its upcoming fifth season. The series most recently premiered and wrapped up its fourth season in January 2021 before announcing the renewal for the fifth installment

Search Party follows the lead character Dory Sief searching for her disappearing college peer in its first season before subsequent seasons introduce new mysteries, disappearances, and deaths between the absurdist group of acquaintances and friends. The series cast features Alia Shawkat (Arrested Development) as Dory in addition to John Early (30 Rock) as Elliott Goss, Meredith Hagner (Lights Out, Palm Springs) as Portia Davenport, John Reynolds (Stranger Things) as Drew Gardner, and Brandon Micheal Hall (The Mayor) as Julian Marcus. Goldblum will join the series’ fifth season as Tunnel Quinn, an eccentric tech billionaire who comes into contact with Dory for a business venture.

Goldblum is often recognized for his appearances in film, yet has held many guest appearances on television series as well. Goldblum’s television credits include the role of Scott Wooley on Will & Grace, in which he was nominated for an Emmy Award for Guest Actor in a Comedy, in addition to roles on The League, Portlandia, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. Currently, he hosts a nonfiction series titled The World According to Jeff Goldblum on Disney+, as well as an upcoming reprisal role as the Grandmaster from Thor: Ragnarok on the Disney+ and Marvel Studios’ animated series What If…?

Search Party’s fifth season has yet to announce a premiere date.
