HBO Max to Launch in May with Anna Kendrick’s ‘Love Life’, ‘Tokyo Vice’ and ‘Raised by Wolves’

WarnerMedia announced the launch date for HBO Max and the new platform is set to debut on May 27. For its release, HBO Max comes a few changes: founding CEO of Hulu Jason Kilar will start as chief executive for WarnerMedia on May 1. His predecessor John Stankey will take over as AT&T president and COO.

Along with original content such as Anna Kendrick’s Love Life or Kaley Cuoco’s The Flight Attendant,  HBO Max will release third-party licensed content like The Big Bang Theory, South Park or Friends whose reunion special was delayed by COVID-19. In addition, Studio Ghibli, Warner Bros, New Line and DC movies will be available with My Neighbor Totoro, Joker, The Matrix or Casablanca among lots of content. HBO Max will also be in collaboration with WarnerMedia brands including CNN, TNT, TBS, truTV, Turner Classic Movies, Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, Crunchyroll, Rooster Teeth and Looney Tunes.

As reported in October, HBO Max will cost $14.99 per month. According to Variety, HBO Now users will have access to the 10,000 of content by just registering on the official website. AT&T is also offering HBO Max at no additional charge as a result of having 10 million HBO subscribers in its platform.

“Consumers will quickly see that HBO Max is set apart by a foundation of loved brands built over decades but stitched together with a distinctive voice and product experience,” said Kevin Reilly, Chief Content Officer, HBO Max, President, TNT, TBS, and truTV. “Our team has meticulously selected a world class library catalogue and collaborated with top creators across all genres to offer a monthly cadence of original series and movies that we will program and promote for cultural impact”.

HBO Max will be available on May 27 via numerous platforms including Charter Communications and YouTube’s TV MVPD service.
