HBO Max Releases Official Trailer For ‘Peacemaker’

The official, full length trailer for the upcoming DC comics show, Peacemaker,  released yesterday and shows new plot points and arks for the plethora of characters appearing in the show. Readers can check out the new trailer below.

John Cena’s (12 Rounds, The Suicide Squad) optimistic, ruthless killer, Peacemaker, is shown going on yet another series of murder kid adventures with a team of government operatives. Two characters on the team we met in the 2021 action thriller The Suicide Squad: Jennifer Holland (Brightburn, Sunset Records) as his ARGUS handler Emilia Harcourt and Steve Agee (New Girl, Superstore) as the technical whiz John Economos.

New characters joining Cena are two new assassins like Adrian Chase played by Freddie Stroma (Bridgerton, The Crew) and Leota Adebayo portrayed by Danielle Brooks (Orange is the New Black, Angry Birds).

The trailer showed off all of these characters in more depth, but what enticed fans were the scenes showing Cena’s character grapple with his violent nature. Peacemaker’s motto, as ironic as it may sound, is that he will “do anything to bring peace, no matter how many men, women or children I have to kill to get it” and the trailer shows him grappling with this fact in a moral capacity.

However, as much as this trailer may show the character’s growth, it does still highlight the off-the-cuff, fraternity brother humor we’ve known the character to make.

James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy, The Suicide Squad), series creator and writer, wrote the show during the pandemic as a joke, but after the success of the movie he felt that fans wanted to see more on this character and expand on his backstory.

The show does not have a definitive release date, but loyal DC fans can expect the wild, action filled show to premiere on HBO Max in January 2022.
