HBO Max Releases First Trailer for Teen Drama Series ‘Generation’

The first trailer for HBO Max’s upcoming teen drama series Generation was released on Thursday. Offering some quick glimpses at the half-hour drama, it will be made available to stream March 11, via Entertainment Weekly

Initial looks at the series paints a picture of wild youth repressed. Confined to fitting in while also learning to accept their true selves, the official synopsis picked up by TVline states Generation: “follows a diverse group of high school students whose exploration of modern sexuality (devices and all) tests deeply entrenched beliefs about life, love and the nature of family in their conservative community.”

The series stars Justice Smith (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom), Martha Plimpton (Raising Hope), Nathan Stewart- Jarrett (Utopia), Nathanya Alexander (Ocean’s 8), Chloe East (The Wolf of Snow Hallow), Nava Mau (Sam’s Town), Lukita Maxwell (Speechless), Haley Sanchez (Red Dress), Uly Schlesinger (Search Party), and Chase Sui Wonders (On the Rocks).

Generation will mark one of many original series on HBO now dedicated to stories depicting the chaotic years of coming of age. There is the critically acclaimed Euphoria starring Zendaya (Malcom & Marie) and Luca Gaudagnino’s (Call Me By Your NameWe Are Who We Are. To differentiate itself from several other teen dramas on the network, the trailer describes itself as, “A new generation of teens searching for something real.”

Lena Dunhman (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood), who became notable with her boundary breaking and controversial HBO series Girls, serves as executive producer. Generation is created by 19-year old newcomer Zelda Barnz and her father Daniel Barnz (Cake).

The first two episodes of season one will premiere on March 11, with two additional episodes being released each week for the following two weeks. The finale will air on April 1. An additional eight episodes, considered the second half of the first season, will debut sometime later in the year.
