The upcoming Marvel and Disney+ superhero series, Hawkeye, will feature actress and singer Hailee Steinfeld (Edge of Seventeen) as the female lead character Kate Bishop, via Comicbook.com. The actress has not been officially announced through Marvel Studios, yet, after rumors continued to swirl, leaked footage from the series’ set catches a flash of the actress next to Hawkeye actor, Jeremy Renner (Wind River), and Lucky the Pizza Dog.

Hawkeye is an upcoming streaming series for Disney+ that will follow the Marvel superhero Hawkeye, or Clint Barton, after the events of Avengers: Infinity War. The series will be set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and was created for television by Jonathan Igla (Mad Men, Pitch). The series is executive produced by the likes of Igla, Kevin Feige (Iron Man), and Trinh Tran (Avengers: Endgame).

The news of Steinfeld’s casting came about through a leaked on-set video, via Murphy’s Multiverse, that sees the actress descend a flight of New York Subway stairs alongside Renner and the aforementioned Lucky the Pizza Dog. The character that Steinfeld will be portraying is Kate Bishop, who acts as a trainee to Hawkeye which will transition her into assuming the future superhero role. Due to Marvel Studios not officially announcing the casting, there is little information regarding the full extent of Steinfeld and the character of Bishop’s involvement in the Disney+ series.

Currently, Hawkeye lacks an exact premiere date on the Disney streaming platform. However, it is expected to be released sometime during 2021, providing that filming and the production process as a whole are not halted due to the on-going COVID-19 pandemic.
