Actress Gina Carano has announced a new film deal in a statement regarding her recent firing from Lucasfilm’s The Mandalorian. According to Deadline, Carano has signed a deal to develop, produce, and star in a film as part of conservative media outlet, The Daily Wire. The company co-founded by political pundit Ben Shapiro (The Right Side of History, Porn Generation: How Social Liberalism Is Corrupting Our Future) looks to build an entertainment division beginning with Carano’s project.
“The Daily Wire is helping make one of my dreams — to develop and produce my own film — come true,” Carano stated Friday via Deadline. I cried out and my prayer was answered. I am sending out direct message of hope to everyone living in fear of cancellation by the totalitarian mob. I have only just begun using my voice which is now freer than ever before, and I hope it inspires others to do the same. They can’t cancel us if we don’t let them,” Carano said via Deadline.
According to Deadline, Lucasfilm announced Thursday that Carano would no longer be working for them now or in the future. Carano also found herself dropped by her agency, UTA. The termination came after a series of controversial social media posts made by the former MMA star. Previous posts from Carano allegedly promoted transphobic language and anti-masker conspiracies. The latest post, which has since been deleted from her Instagram, included a TikTok that equated living during Nazi Germany to “hating someone for their political views.” Read the full post below:

According to Deadline, Carano’s project will be the second entertainment endeavor by The Daily Wire. Dallas Sonnier’s (Bone Tomahawk, Dragged Across Concrete) film Run Fight Hide, about a high school student fighting back against a mass shooter, was purchased by the website last month. They alleged the film garnered 300,000 viewers during its live-streamed premiere.
“We’re eager to bring Gina’s talent to Americans who love her, and we’re just as eager to show Hollywood that if they want to keep cancelling those who think differently, they’ll just be helping us build the Xwing to take down their Death Star,” Shapiro stated via Deadline.
