Netflix has released the first trailer for season two of Stranger Things: Tales From ’85, revealing another supernatural problem for the Hawkins Investigators Club to solve. According to Tudum, the animated Stranger Things series will return Sept. 17, picking up directly after the season one finale.
After defeating the Horde Queen and preventing a gate to the Upside Down from opening, the group attempts to return to normal life. That includes spending time at the arcade, taking on HIC missions, and preparing for Valentine’s Day, but their break from the supernatural does not last long.
The trailer introduces strange flowers appearing throughout Hawkins, showrunner Eric Robles (Glitch Techs, Fanboy & Chum Chum) explained that while the flowers initially appear harmless, they contain a supernatural secret. The problem becomes even bigger when Nikki and Max begin selling them around town.
Tudum reports that the Hawkins Investigators Club will also encounter ghostly apparitions and a swarm of creatures called hate sprites, leading to another race to prevent a new gate to the Upside Down from being opened. Season two will revisit locations including Hawkins Middle School and the Palace Arcade while also exploring new parts of town, including a previously unseen mine.
The returning voice cast includes Brooklyn Davey Norstedt (We Were Liars, Stranger Things: Tales From ’85) as Eleven, Luca Diaz (Stranger Things: Tales From ’85, The Bad Guys 2) as Mike, Benjamin Plessala (Stranger Things: Tales From ’85, Shameless) as Will, Braxton Quinney (Stranger Things: Tales From ’85, The Really Loud House) as Dustin, Elisha “EJ” Williams (The Wonder Years, Puppy Dog Pals) as Lucas and Jolie Hoang-Rappaport (Just Add Magic: Mystery City, In Your Dreams) as Max. Odessa A’zion (Marty Supreme, Hellraiser) also returns as Nikki Baxter.
Other returning cast members include Janeane Garofalo (The Larry Sanders Show, Wet Hot American Summer) as Anna Baxter, Jeremy Jordan (Supergirl, Smash) as Steve Harrington, and Jack Griffo (The Thundermans, Alexa & Katie). Season two keeps the animated series focused on the younger Hawkins crew while giving them another mystery to investigate.
What begins with strange flowers and reports of ghosts soon develops into another threat that could put Hawkins in danger. Creating a mystery waiting to be answered for the season’s September 17th premiere.
