‘Game of Thrones’ Star Jonathan Pryce Starring in Netflix’s ‘The Crown’

Games of Thrones actor Jonathan Pryce (The Two Popes) will take on the role of Prince Philip in The Crown, according to Deadline. Pryce will join the Netflix’s drama for season 5 and 6.

Alongside Pryce, Imelda Staunton (Gypsy) will be featured in the series as Queen Elizabeth II and Lesley Manville (Another Year) as Princess Margaret.

The new of Pryce’s newly claimed involvement with The Crown came after showrunner Peter Morgan (Rush) announced the continuation of the show after it’s supposed to end after season 5.

“As we started to discuss the storylines for Series 5, it soon became clear that in order to do justice to the richness and complexity of the story we should go back to the original plan and do six seasons. To be clear, Series 6 will not bring us any closer to present-day — it will simply enable us to cover the same period in greater detail,” stated Morgan via Variety.

Pryce has been in notable roles like High Sparrow in Game Of Thrones, Sam Lowry in dystopian science fiction drama Brazil, and Elliot Carver in Tomorrow Never Dies. He was nominated for an Oscar earlier this year for his work in The Two Popes according to Deadline.
