FX has renewed vampire comedy, What We Do in the Shadows for its third season, according to Variety. The Jermaine Clement (Moana, Men in Black 3) and Taika Waititi (Jojo Rabbit, Thor: Ragnarok) based series is currently in its second season with the season finale set to end on June 10.
What We Do in the Shadows catalogs the nightly adventures of vampire roommates. With the aid of their human comrade, Guillermo (Harvey Guillén: The Internship, The Magicians), they make a futile attempt to acclimate themselves to the modern world of Staten Island
In this group of vampires: Nandor The Rentless (Kayvan Novak: A Christmas Carol, Men in Black: International) a warrior and conqueror from the Ottoman Empire, British vampire, Laszlo (Matt Berry: Disenchantment, Year of the Rabbit), Nadja (Natasia Demetrious: Stath Lets Flats, Ellie and Natasia), Laszlo’s lover, and Colin Robinson (Mark Proksch: Dream Corp LLC, Black Monday), an energy vampire and day walker who feasts on humans energy force.
The series averaged 3.2 million viewers per episode across all platforms in its second season and increased 25% in season one, Variety sources claim. The president of original programming for FX Entertainment, Nick Grad, says that he and the FX production team are “incredibly happy that critics and audiences are all in on ‘Shadows,’ Variety mentioned. Grad assures the success of the show is because “week in and week out, the producers and our amazing cast continue to make one of the funnies and best comedy series on TV.”
Executive producers on the show include Clement, Waititi and Paul Simms (The Larry Sanders Show, Atlanta). Scott Rudin (Greenberg, Fences), Garrett Basch (The Night Of, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo), Eli Bush (Lady Bird, Ex Machina) and Stefani Robinson (Atlanta, Man Seeking Woman), Deadline states.
There are currently no details concerning the third season of What We Do in the Shadow’s talent or possible premiere date. What We Do in the Shadows’s next episode airs on FX on Wednesdays at 10pm and streams on Hulu the next day.
