FX’s ‘The Bear’ Season Two To Premiere With 10 Episodes In The Summer

According to Deadline, FX has revealed that comedy drama The Bear will debut its second season sometime in the summer. It will total ten episodes, with two extra episodes compared to the first season’s eight.

The series stars Jeremy Allen White (Shameless, The Rental), who recently won a Golden Globe award for his portrayal of Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto, “young chef from the fine dining world, who comes home to Chicago to run his family sandwich shop – The Original Beef of Chicagoland – after a heartbreaking death in his family. A world away from what he’s used to, Carmy must balance the soul-crushing realities of small business ownership, his strong-willed and recalcitrant kitchen staff and his strained familial relationships, all while grappling with the impact of his brother’s suicide,” per FX.

Christopher Storer, known for producing Ramy and Eighth Grade, serves as the creator and EP of the show. When asked about season two, via Deadline, Storer kept his answer vague: “I know this sounds like I’m avoiding the question but part of the reason why I even wanted to make the show in the first place was that I probably become unhealthily obsessed with time in a lot of instances that created anxiety. And there’s no better setting than a restaurant for the pressures of that. In terms of Season 2, you’re gonna see them build a restaurant. They think they’re starting from a healthy place like a lot of other businesses but it just creates the same amount of problems and the same amount of headaches every day. So we see them have to step up in different ways. In some ways, they’ll regress but hopefully, they’ll ultimately come back together to open this thing by a very specific date.”

White works alongside Ebon Moss-Bachrach (Girls, The Punisher), Ayo Edebiri (Dickinson, Big Mouth), Lionel Boyce (The Jellies, Loiter Squad), Liza Colon-Zara’s (In Treatment, David Makes Man), Edwin Lee Gibson (Fargo, Rounding), Corey Hendrix (Chicago P.D., Speechless), Richard Esteras (Death Wish, When Jeff Tried to Save the World), and Jose M. Cervantes (Shining Girls, Chicago Med).

The Bear season one is available exclusively on Hulu. A release date has not been set yet for its second installment.
