FX’s ‘Mayans M.C.’ Will Not Feature Actor Tommy Flanagan Going Forward

Following the release of its third season in spring 2021, the biker crime drama series Mayans M.C. will not be including a guest star going forward in its fourth season. During his press tour for his role in Power Book IV: Force, actor Tommy Flanagan (Sons of Anarchy) informed the world that his biker role of Chibs will not be coming back to creator Kurt Sutter’s (Southpaw) universe via Deadline. Flanagan’s character has not made too much of a splash in Mayans M.C. besides for a guest appearance in season two, yet many television fans were excited to see the character’s re-inclusion on the small screen.

Created by Sutter, Mayans M.C. acts as a sequel series two years after the events of FX’s hit drama Sons of Anarchy where Flanagan’s Chibs appeared in 90 out of its 92 episodes as a series mainstay. The sequel series deals particularly with a differing motorcycle club in the Mayans with its focus on a new prospect to the club in Ezekiel Reyes. When asked about in an interview Deadline surrounding the upcoming role in the Starz original Power Book IV, Flanagan provided the news that he will not be returning to Mayans, but offered up a hint of what the character might be up to like “riding through the mountains with a smelly leather jacket on.”

Despite the lovable Chibs character not returning to FX’s Mayans M.C. in the future, the biker gang drama is still on track to release its fourth season in the coming months of 2022. Meanwhile, 50 Cent’s Power Book IV: Force is gearing up for its series premiere on February 6 where Flanagan will appear as one of Chicago’s most feared gang leaders in Walter Flynn.
