According to Deadline, FX has set a premiere date for the upcoming comedy series Adults. The show comes from The Tonight Show writers Rebecca Shaw (Wax Paul Now) and Ben Kronengold (The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon). The network has set for the series to air on May 28 with two episodes.
Via Deadline, the series follows five friends Samir, Billie, Paul Baker, Issa and Anton, who crash together in Samir’s childhood home. Throughout the series, they navigate the complexities of adulthood as they face joyful moments while also dealing with the struggles of being an adult.
The cast of the series includes Malik Elassal (Resident Alien), Lucy Freyer (The Justive), Jack Innanen (The Office Movers), Amita Rao (Deli Boys) and Owen Thiele (Adults Best Friends). Charlie Cox (Daredevil: Born Again), Julia Fox (Uncut Gems), D’Arcy Carden (A League of Their Own), Grace Kuhlenschmidt (Hot White Heist), John Reynolds (Four Weddings and a Funeral) and Ray Nicholson (Out of the Blue) will guest star in the first season.
As per Deadline FX says, “the show puts a slightly heightened twist on the wins, losses and humiliations of starting out in the adult world. Whether they’re trying to get ahead at work, navigating the healthcare system, hosting a dinner party or dating in the age of Find My Friends, the group is finding that nothing about the real world is simple, and all their best intentions tend to make things worse.”
“We’re so grateful to be telling this story about a group of friends navigating the hardest, horniest time of life together,” Kronengold and Shaw said in a joint statement last year after the show was picked up. “FX comedies have defined our generation, and we can’t wait to show them the consequences.”
Per is Deadline, produced by Kronengold and Shaw, along with Nick Kroll (Big Mouth, The League), Stefani Robinson (Atlanta), Sarah Naftalis (What We Do in the Shadows) and Jonathan Krisel (Baskets, English Teacher).
Adults will be available to stream on Hulu and FX on May 29.
