FX has placed an order for Stephen Falk’s romantic comedy You’re The Worst, Deadline reports.
The new series is about two toxic, self-destructive people who fall in love and attempt to make a relationship work. Falk, who created and wrote the show, also serves as a co-executive producer and writer for hit show Weeds and Netflix’s new original series Orange is the New Black. In addition, he created and executive-produced Next Caller, a half-hour comedy, for NBC.
You’re The Worst is not the only comedy FX has picked up. Last month, the network announced that it ordered an unnamed project starring Martin Lawrence and Kelsey Grammer as battling lawyers who end up friends. The unnamed project is a 10/90 order, following the same lines as Charlie Sheen’s comedy Anger Management. This means that an initial production of ten episodes becomes an auto-order for ninety more if the initial bunch hits a previously agreed upon rating threshold.
Simon Rich’s half-hour comedy pilot Man Seeking Woman was given an order back in June by FX. Rich (Saturday Night Live) based the show off of his book “The Last Girlfriend On Earth” and describes it as a “sweet, surreal and bitingly funny look at life and death stakes of fating in New York City.” Jonathan Krisel is set to direct the pilot. Rich and Krisel are also executive producing with Broadway Video for FX Prods, explains Deadline. If Man Seeking Woman goes to series, it will make 28-year-old Rich, son of former New York Times columnist Frank Rich, one of the youngest series creators ever.
