“Full Frontal With Samantha Bee” Renewed Through the End of 2016

After only getting 13 episodes to start, Full Frontal With Samantha Bee has been renewed through the rest of 2016, according to Variety. The newest episode count gives Bee another another 26 episodes, bringing the total count up to 39 episodes that will air throughout the rest of the year.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the show (which premiered on Feb. 8, 2016) has only aired seven episodes but has already been a hit for TBS.

Variety says that Full Frontal reaches 3.7 million people per episode and the show brings in another 2.1 million viewers as people watch the episode later in the week. The YouTube channel that posts clips from the shows has 29 million viewers. Not only does the YouTube channel post clips from the episodes, but it also posts web exclusive videos for people to watch.

Episodes of Full Frontal air Monday nights at 10:30 p.m., which is different than most late night shows, which start at 11 p.m. or 11:30 p.m. Her show kicks off TBS’ late night talk show run, as Conan O’Brien’s show, Conan, follows hers.

Her show is also different because it airs once a week instead of nightly, though there’s no episode on April 4 due to TBS’ coverage of the NCAA tournament.

Bee is one of a few women who have their own late night talk show and many people compare Full Frontal with HBO’s Last Week Tonight, which is hosted by John Oliver and airs weekly on Sunday nights. Both shows are known for their longer segments that other late night shows aren’t able to dive into, with Last Week Tonight sometimes dedicating 10 or 15 minutes to a segment.

Bee is originally known for being a news correspondent on The Daily Show from 2003 until 2015, when she left to start work on Full Frontal. While working on The Daily Show, she was the first female news correspondent on the show. She also made an appearance in Tina Fey and Amy Poehler’s movie Sisters, which first opened in theaters on Dec. 18, 2015. Bee was one of many stars and comedians who appeared in the movie, which included Saturday Night Live alums Maya Rudolph and Rachel Dratch.

Full Frontal With Samantha Bee airs Monday nights at 10:30 p.m. on TBS.
