From Thunder To War: Prime Video’s ‘God Of War’ Transforms Ryan Hurst To Become The Ghost Of Sparta

The long-awaited search for the live-action Ghost of Sparta is over. Reported by Screenrant, Prime Video are moving forward and have eyed Ryan Hurst (Sons of Anarchy, The Walking Deadto lead the upcoming God of War series as the mighty Kratos. This is not the first time that Hurst has been involved with the iconic franchise, as he was the voice behind Thor within the 2022 sequel, God of War Ragnarök, which has earned him a BAFTA nomination and a cemented him as a heavyweight in the series’ lore.

According to Screenrant, the plot of the series will focus on the plot of 2018 game, in which Kratos and son, Atreus embark on a journey to spread the ashes of his late mother, Fay at the highest peak in the realms. Along their journey they meet new allies and enemies alike which includes the wise Mimir , Freya  and the dwarf blacksmiths, Brok and Sindri. The series has began production which will be done in Vancouver, and has already received an order for a second season.

According to mxdwn, te series will be directed by Frederick E.O. Toye (The Boys, Shogun), who will be in charge of the first two episodes. We also will be seeing Ronald D. Moore (Caprica, Outlanders), who will serves as the showrunner for the show.

Viewers are still awaiting on further information surrounding the rest of the cast that will be joining Hurst in the anticipated live adaptation. According to Screenrant, if the series has a successful debut and viewer following, then it get enter the library alongside other popular adaptations which includes Fallout and the upcoming Lara Croft series .

Screenrant reports, there is currently no concrete information on when the approaching God of War is set to debut on Prime Video, but it is speculated that it will arrive in mid-2027.
