According to The Hollywood Reporter, Freeform has recently released the first trailer for their upcoming adult animated comedy series Praise Petey. A series that will follow how a modern woman takes on the challenge of managing her late father’s cult. The series will consist of 10 episodes and will air on July 21st.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the series deals with the main character Petey dealing with her life taking a full turn as she now must leave her big city life in New York and go to New Utopia. New Utopia is a community founded by her late father, but to her surprise, all inhabitants are part of a cult that believes that she is their prophesied savior. This is all due to a foretold prophecy that Petey wants no part in. She decides to girl-boss her way out of the situation by attempting to give the community its agency while also finding her voice along the way.
The series cast includes Annie Murphy (Schitt’s Creek), Eve Plumb (A Very Brady Renovation), Stephen Root (Office Space), Kiersey Clemons (Dope), Christine Baranski (Mamma Mia!), John Cho (Cowboy Bebop), Amy Hill (50 First Dates), and many more.
The series is being created by Anna Drezen (Saturday Night Live) as well as executive produced by Bandera Entertainment’s Mike Judge (King of the Hill), Greg Daniels (The Office), and Dustin Davi (Chrissy’s Court), as well as ShadowMachine’s Alex Bulkley (Pearl) and Corey Campodonico (BoJack Horseman) and Monica Padrick (Charlie’s Angels). The series will be produced by Disney Television Studios’ 20th Television Animation.
Praise Petey will premiere on July 21st at 10 p.m. ET. The first two episodes will air on Freeform, with two episodes airing weekly. The series will also be available to stream on Hulu.
