Freeform Has Okayed Josh Thomas’s New Show, ‘Everything’s Gonna Be Okay’

Josh Thomas (Please Like Me) can do it all. He has created, written, and is starring in a new show, Everything’s Gonna Be Okay, which will air on Freeform. With 10 episodes locked in, the show will follow Thomas’s character, Nicholas, as he struggles to raise a family going through some complicated matters. In an endearing story, Nicholas will explore self-growth and patience.

Thomas’s realistic stories had caught the attention of Freeform. “Both on- and offscreen, Josh is a master of creativity and bringing unique stories about underrepresented topics to television,” Freeform President Tom Ascheim said. “At Freeform, we are committed to elevating narratives that resonate with today’s youth culture and this series is the perfect vehicle for that. We’re thrilled to be partnering with Josh to tell the story of this unconventional, quirky family that will spark many conversations around love, grief and adulting.”

Freeform has put Thomas in as showrunner and executive producer, the latter role is shared with David Martin, Jon Thoday, Richard Allen-Turner, Stephanie Swedlove, and Kevin Whyte.

Thomas considers this show special and he had nothing but nice things to say about his cast members. “The absolute bestest thing about having a brand-new TV show is getting to create new characters,” Thomas said. “I love the characters in this show, and I love how our cast depicts them — they are funny and kind and fascinating. I feel very grateful to Freeform for giving me the opportunity to introduce them to you.”

Other casts members include Kayla Cromer (South of Hell), Maeve Press (Theresa Is Mother) and Adam Faison (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D).

For anyone wanting to check out Thomas’s previous work, you can watch his show Please Like Me on Hulu – another series that Thomas had created, written, and starred in.

There is no date set for the show as of yet.
