According to The Hollywood Reporter, Fox has renewed crime drama Murder in a Small Town for a second season. The series, based on L.R. Wright’s (A chill rain in January) Karl Alberg novels, is Fox’s first renewal for a live-action scripted show for the 2025-26 season.
“We look forward to giving fans a second season of Karl Alberg’s unmatched expertise as a crime solver in Murder in a Small Town,” Brooke Bowman (72 Dangerous Animals: Latin America), executive vice president drama programming and development at Fox, said in a statement. “We’ve enjoyed a terrific partnership with Sepia and Future Shack and our incredibly talented cast and crew and can’t wait to see what’s in store for our characters next season.”
The series follows Karl Alberg a former big-city detective who moves to a coastal town to escape the stress from his last job. While staying in the new town he seems to have his old job come back as he starts to investigate murders that unravel the town’s hidden secrets.
The series cast includes Rossif Sutherland (Bad Romance: The Vicky White Story), Kristin Kreuk (Beauty and the Beast), James Cromwell (Star Trek: First Contact), Stana Katic (For Lovers Only), Mya Lowe (Dead Boy Detectives), Savonna Spracklin (House of Feelings), Aaron Douglas (Battlestar Galactica), Fritzy-Klevans Destine (Star Wars: Outlaws), Katey Wright (Da Vinci’s City Hall) and Dakota Guppy (Daisy & the Gumboot Kids).

Murder in a Small Town is available to stream on Hulu.
