According to The Hollywood Reporter, Fox has renewed comedic series Animal Control for fifth season. The series starring Joel McHale (Community, Deliver Us from Evil) is coming back for a fifth installment. The pickup is the first for a live-action scripted show on Fox this season, though several of its animated shows are all in the midst of multi-year orders.
As per The Hollywood Reporter, the renewal for Animal Control comes on the heels of the show scoring an NFL-assisted series high in total viewers and adults 18-49 in late December. The current season of the series is streaming on Hulu, with past seasons now available on Netflix.
“With the writing, ensemble, and audience response all landing at new levels, renewing Animal Control was an easy decision,” said Fox Television Network president Michael Thorn via The Hollywood Reporter. “The series launched to new highs in its fourth season, which is a direct reflection of the show’s continued creative growth, outstanding producing team, and the incredible Joel McHale as our lead.”
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Animal Control follows a group of municipal animal control workers in Seattle. Joining McHale as stars of the series is Michael Rowland (The Life List, Adult Best Friends), Vella Lovell (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, The Big Sick), Ravi V. Patel (Meet the Patels, Master of None), Grace Palmer (My Name Is Heather, My Life Is Murder), Garry Dee (Pretty Hard Cases, Canada Russia ’72), Amy Goodmurphy (The Right One, The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers), Krystal Smith (Welcome to Flatch, Jackpot!) and many others.
As per The Hollywood Reporter, the series is produced in-house by Fox Entertainment Studios. The executive producers are Bob Fisher (The Croods: Family Tree, Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll), Rob Greenberg (The Moodys, We Are Men), Dan Sterling (Long Shot, Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark), showrunner Tad Quill (Scrubs, Angel from Hell) and McHale.
Animal Control is available to stream on Netflix and Hulu.
