Per Deadline, Fox has released the official trailer and premiere date for Going Dutch, the network’s upcoming comedy series starring Denis Leary (Behind the B, Sirens). The series will premiere its first episode on January 2, 2025. Leary will star as Patrick Quinn, a U.S. Army Colonel who is taked with reinstating discipline and professionalism among his military misfits.
In the released trailer above, Sergeant Dana Conway, played by Laci Mosely (iCarly, Lopez vs. Lopez), is seen exclaiming at a group of soldiers. “The leaders of 32 countries are putting their very lives in our hands — and most importantly — their laundry!” That gives the audience an idea where this all might be going.
The single-camera series will follow Leary as the arrogant, loudmouth Quinn, who, after an unfiltered rant, is reassigned to the Netherlands. There, he is punished with a command position at the least important army base in the world. After serving with distinction in every warzone over the last three decades, he now finds himself in charge of a base with no guns, weapons or tactical purpose.
Instead, it has a Michelin Star-level commissary, a top-notch bowling alley, lavender-infused laundry and the best (and only) fromagerie in the U.S. Army. Surrounded by a group of military misfits, the colonel tries to reinstate discipline and professionalism with the help of the base’s previous leader, Captain Maggie Quinn — who happens to be his estranged daughter, played by Taylor Misiak (Dave, Ten Year Old Tom).
The series will also star Danny Pudi (Krapopolis, Community) as XO Major Abraham Shah, the Colonel’s executive officer and codependent right-hand man; Mosely as the cunning, crafty supply Sergeant Dana Conway; and Hal Cumpston (The Artful Dodger, Safe Home) as Corporal Elias Papadakis, “technically” a soldier and the base’s brilliant head of IT. Also featured in recurring roles are Joe Morton (Benjamin Franklin, Our Kind of People) as General Davidson, the Colonel’s long-standing nemesis; Catherine Tate (Doctor Who, Queen of Oz) as the smart, attractive Katja Vanderhoff, head of the city’s Chamber of Commerce and the local brothel owner; and Dempsey Bryk (Willow, Coroner) as Private Anthony ‘BA’ Chapman, a “sweet baby himbo” and a “golden retriever of a soldier.”
The series is part of Fox’s building of a new comedy block, with the upcoming third season of the live-action comedy series Animal Control, starring Joel McHale (The Bear, American Dad!), also scheduled to premiere in January.
Going Dutch will be written, showrun and executive produced by Joel Church-Cooper (Minx, Brockmire). EPs include Leary, Jack Leary (Dogs Playing Poker, The Americans) and Edmund Sampson (Ripper Street, Quirke).
