Fox Announces Schedule for Returning Drama Series ‘9-1-1’, ‘9-1-1: Lone Star’, ‘The Resident’, ‘Prodigal Son’ in January 2021

Fox has announced its January 2021 schedule regarding its top drama series. Releasing a promo video on Tuesday, the network confirmed the return of hit shows 9-1-1, 9-1-1: Lone Star, The Resident and Prodigal Son. All four shows are set to come back with new seasons in January, though no specific dates have been announced yet according to Deadline

The Resident’s airtime remains unchanged with season four set to air on Tuesday nights at 8 P.M. The series stars Matt Czuchry (Gilmore Girls), Emily VanCamp (Revenge), Manish Dayal (The Hundred Foot Journey), and Bruce Greenwood (Gerald’s Game) as doctors who work at Chastain Park Memorial Hospital.

The hit show 9-1-1 is also entering into season four and will continue to air on Monday nights at 8 P.M. 9-1-1 was created by Ryan Murphy (Ratched), along with frequent collaborators Brad Fulchuck (Scream Queens), and Tim Minear (American Horror Story). The cop drama stars Angela Bassett (American Horror Story), Peter Krause (Parenthood), and Oliver Stark (Into the Badlands).

While The Resident and 9-1-1’s airtime remains the same, there have been some changes regarding Fox’s January 2021 lineup. 9-1-1’s popular spinoff 9-1-1: Lone Star will be moving to a new time slot. It will now air after 9-1-1 on Monday nights at the coveted 9 P.M spot. Its first season featured Rob Lowe (Parks and Recreation), Liv Tyler (The Leftovers), Brian Michael Smith (Homeland) and Jennifer Love Hewitt (The Client List). Heading into it’s second season, Tyler made news earlier this year when she announced she would not be returning due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Another show heading into its sophomore season is Prodigal Son, Fox’s fourth returning drama series. Starring Michael Sheen (Good Omens) and Tom Payne (Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day), it will now air after The Resident on Tuesday nights at 9 P.M. All four shows are currently in production after having gone on hiatus due to COVID-19.
