FOX and National Geographic’s ‘Cosmos: Possible Worlds’ Releases New Trailer at Comic-Con

During Comic-Con both FOX an National Geographic released a teaser trailer for the Emmy Award winning series, Cosmos. The new season is titled Cosmos: Possible Worlds, and the series is described as an adventure into uncharted worlds. It will follow the same strategy used in the first season; however, it will focus more on extraterrestrial exploration, as well as, the idea that we are the universe’s way of understanding itself.

The host of the new season is Neil deGrasse Tyson. He takes his viewers on path that leads to the possibility of intelligent alien life and also talking about the exploration of “paradoxical realities.” Ann Druyan is the executive producer, writer, and director for the new season. She also won an Emmy Award for writing the 2014 series and also won the Peabody for producing it. Druyan will be joined by executive producers: Seth MacFarlane (Family Guy, The Orville), Brannon Braga (The Orville,, Cosmos: A SpaceTime Odyssey) and Jason Clark (The Orville, Cosmos: A SpaceTime Odyssey).

Here is the trailer:

Tyson said, “I think we succeeded in maintaining the spiritual center of what the original Cosmos was on a level where you no longer think of [it] as a documentary at all, even though it technically is. There’s not really a word for it. It’s operating on another level, reaching … what role science is playing in our understanding of our lace in the universe.

After the panel at Comic-Con Tyson and Druyan invited a group of fans to be apart of the “Cosmos Experience.” It is  a 33-foot visual effects at the viewing dome next to Hilton Bayfront lawn. It will stay open to Comic-Con until Sunday at 1PM, so if you’re able to check it out, I suggest going soon. In the dome it recreates the set for the show’s “Ship of Imagination.” This allows fans to have another idea of the upcoming season through a two-minute VFX display that explores space from the Sagittarius field all the way to other plants.

This leads to the question, what possible worlds are to be explored in the new season? We will find out when the new season airs of Cosmos: Possible Worlds on Fox and National Geographic in March 2019. As Tyson says in the trailer, “Things are about to get epic.”
