Amazon MGM Studios, Blur Studios, and Game Workshop are working together to develop an animated Warhammer 40,000 series. Ever since the Warhammer themed episode in Prime Video’s Secret Levels we are now going to receive television series set within the world of Warhammer.
For those who don’t know, in 1987, Warhammer 40,000 started out as a tabletop miniature war game with an expansive sci-fi/dark fantasy universe, which is set in a world where war is constant and never ending, multiple factions fight each other with no clear victor in the vastness of space. Over time, the franchise grew in popularity and would end up in a different type of media: video games. There would be many games made based off of the Warhammer universe and more people would be introduced to the lore and characters of Warhammer.
According to Variety, Henry Cavill (Enola Holmes 3, In the Grey), who is apart of the live action Warhammer 40,000 series, will also serve as an executive producer for the animated series. Dave Wilson (Secret Level, Bloodshot) will serve as a co-creator for the animated series after his involvement in the Warhammer 40,000 episode on the anthology series Secret Level. Wilson issued this statement regarding the Warhammer 40,000 episode, “’Secret Level’ wasn’t conceived simply as an anthology. It was designed as a launchpad for larger stories,” said Wilson. “The response to the ‘Warhammer’ episode was extraordinary, particularly from fans who understood how much care went into getting the world right. This series gives us the opportunity to build on that foundation and tell a much larger story. I’ve wanted to tell a long-form story set in ‘Warhammer 40,000’ for more than twenty years, and I’m incredibly grateful to Games Workshop and Amazon MGM Studios for the opportunity to do it.”
