Variety announced earlier this morning that famed actress Florence Henderson died Thursday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.
Florence Henderson was a prolific actress, leaving behind an iconic portrayal of the lovable Carol Brady, the matriarch of The Brady Bunch. Her career was long and varied, and she even had a long-standing Broadway relationship, particularly in the 1950s and ’60s. When The Brady Bunch launched the actress into the limelight, she helped comfort the audience with her sunny disposition from 1969 to 1974.
Henderson never left her Brady roots behind, often reappearing for Brady Bunch reunions. Her silver screen family has started pouring in their condolences for Florence’s passing. Maureen McCormick, her Brady Bunch daughter, Tweeted this upon hearing the news:
Florence had even attended Monday’s taping of Dancing with the Stars in order to cheer on Maureen’s performance.

With her long and prosperous career, audiences felt close to the Brady mom, especially after her eye-opening 2011 memoir Life is Not a Stage: From Broadway Baby to a Lovely Lady and Beyond. Florence is survived by her children Barbara, Lizzie, Joseph, Robert, and their spouses, as well as five grandchildren.
