The world of Death Stranding is expanding. Kojima Productions has revealed the official teaser trailer for Death Stranding Isolations.

This news of the brand new animated series comes from Kojima Production Studio’s 10th Anniversary event BEYOND THE STRAND: The Odyssey of Creation and Endeavor at Azabudai Hills Gallery, Tokyo.

The Death Stranding series comes from legendary game creator Hideo Kojima (Snatcher, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater). Kojima created Death Stranding video game in 2019, with Norman Reedus (The Walking Dead, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon) as the main protagonist, Sam Porter, the courier. Death Stranding officially sold over 5 million copies internationally, and won Best Game Direction and Best Performance at the 2019 The Game Awards. The video game sequel, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, was released last year and has sold over 2.5 million copies. The series overall has accumulated a player base of 27 million people worldwide.

The original anime series will tell a completely new story with new protagonists, who were shown in the teaser trailer, that will be separate from the video game, and immediately after the events of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, as Sam has reconnected the continent by the means of the Chiral Network.

Death Stranding Isolation will follow a young boy and girl who set off in an adventure in North America, after many people of the world were forced to live in isolation, due to the wake of a cataclysmic event that caused the dead to collide with the living in the real world. The boy, consumed with anger, and the girl who severed all ties with the outside world, will now be entangled together on a journey, along with an old man who has his own method of connecting with people.

Death Stranding Isolations was previously announced back in 2025. Kojima serves as executive producer of the animation. The director of the show is Takayuki Sano (Attack on Titan: The Last Attack, Jujutsu Kaisen 0), with Japanese novelist Tow Ubukata (Mardock Scramble, Bye-Bye, Earth) as the series composition and screenplay writer. Death Stranding Isolations marks Sano’s directorial debut.

The anime is hand drawn through the traditional 2D animation style. E&H Production is the Japanese studio that leads the animation of the show. The studio has worked on past anime shows like Monsters: 103 Mercies Dragon Damnation, Ninja Kamui, and Ramen Akaneko. The original character designer for Death Stranding Isolations is Ilya Kuvshinov (Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045, The World Ends With You The Animation).

Both Death Stranding and Death Stranding 2: On the Beach are available to play now on PC as well as PlayStation 5, and can be purchased through Steam or Epic Games Store.

Death Stranding Isolations releases in 2027, and will be available to stream exclusively on Disney+.
