The 18 episode second season of Empire will debut September 23, 2015 and Fox has just released the first teaser for the highly anticipated show (via Variety).
Earlier this week Fox released the first promo poster for season 2, but now fans have the first clips of the series.
The teaser is entitled “New Money, New Power, New Empire”. It is filled with shots of Emmy nominated actress Taraji P. Henson, who is reprising her role as Cookie. The teaser also shows Terrence Howard reprising his role behind bars as Lucious Lyon. The brief look into season 2 also delves into the characters of returning cast members. “New Money, New Power, New Empire” includes previews of Bryshere Y. Gray as Hakeem, Trai Byers as Andre, Jussie Smollett as Jamal and Grace Gealey as Anika. And the teaser ends with Cookie visiting Lucious in jail. It is safe to say fans are eagerly awaiting to see what comes next for the power hungry family.
Season two looks to build off of the first season’s massive success. According to The Hollywood Reporter the series had the highest ratings in broadcast drama for the past seven years in its premiere season. Empire even broke Fox’s rating records, the first show to do so in 22 years which we reported on earlier this year.
