Finn Jones’ ‘Iron Fist’ Canceled by Netflix after Season 2

Marvel’s partnership with Netflix has rewarded us with an endless amount of superheroes and comic book characters to explore for days. With hit shows like Jessica Jones, Daredevil, Luke Cage, and The Punisher, Marvel had found their footing in not only movies but TV series as well. However, despite the popularity of these shows, Iron Fist was one that did not make the cut due to poor storytelling and low ratings.

Danny Rand (Finn Jones) is Iron Fist in this dramatic telling of a 10-year old boy who was saved by warrior monks in K’un-Lun after surviving a plane crash that killed his parents. Rand was trained by these monks for years where he learned how to defend for himself all the while picking up different techniques and knowledge about martial arts. Fifteen years later, he returns home to New York to take back his family’s company, but being gone for so long had made things quite difficult for our hero.

The first season did not sit well with fans who thought they deserved better, and rightfully so since other Marvel shows had done exceptionally great. The second season seemed slightly better, but the damage had been done. With undeveloped characters and a weak story arc, Iron Fist got canceled after season two.

Rand posted an emotional goodbye on his Instagram.

Jessica Henwick who plays Colleen Wing also posted a tribute on Instagram to her Iron Fist cast, crew, and supporters.

The cancellation led to a petition that had been signed by more than 19,000 signatures. The fans believed that a season three is just what the show needs to turn things around for the better.

Although, the standalone series is canceled, there are chances we could see Rand return in other Marvel/Netflix series. After all, his most memorable moments were in Luke Cage and Netflix’s miniseries, The Defenders. Even if the Iron Fist series is over, his legacy will still remain.
